The Arts
 |
“At the Club I feel safe, like
I am with family.” |
Fine Arts activites teach
young people how to express themselves through drawing, painting,
collage, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and mixed media. Kids
also have the opportunity to display their artwork.
Choir members are always busy with singing
engagements around the community. Most recently they
traveled to Atlanta to perform at the Boys & Girls Club’s
Southeastern Administrative Conference. Students who
are part of the choir must meet academic requirements as well
as the character and leadership standards.
Creative Writing and Poetry helps
members find their own voice and tap into their creativity
is the basis behind creative writing, poetry and newspaper
activities at each Club. Activities
such as “Can You Rap?” have been successful in encouraging
older youth to use words to express themselves in a fun and productive
environment.
Music and Performance activities encourage
members to march to their own beat. They learn the fundamentals
of rhythm and music. The Club also teaches young members
learn how to read and perform music.
Dance is a fun way for Club members to get
off the couch and on their feet. Members learn new moves
from hip-hop to line dances. |
