Recreational sporting programs at
Boys & Girls
Clubs of Northwest are designed to have all children succeed
and give them the opportunity to have their friends and families
cheer them on. The goal is to encourage youth to become
physically active. Club members participate in both Club
and community sponsored events. Boys & Girls Clubs
of Northwest Tennessee sponsored the Little Twister Basketball
League which consisted of boys and girls grades K-6. One
hundred Club Members participate in the Union City Baseball League. Boys & Girls
Clubs of Northwest Tennessee hosted a two day football camp in
April. In addition to learning skills and strategy, attendees
at “The Camp of Champions” learned sportsmanship
and how to work as a team.
Field Trips expose young
members to a variety of environments and activities outside
their own neighborhoods. Our Clubs offer trips to nature centers,
museums, sporting events, bowling alleys, swimming pools, musical
events, skating rinks, restaurants and plays. Supervised by
adults, these field trips help open members’ eyes to
new opportunities and experiences.
Triple Play is a dynamic wellness program
that demonstrates how eating right, keeping fit and forming
positive relationships add up to a healthy lifestyle. The goal
of the Triple Play program is to improve Club members’ knowledge
of healthy habits; increase the number of hours per day they
participate in physical activities; and strengthen their ability
to interact positively with others and engage in positive relationships.
Program components include:
• Healthy Habits Nutrition Curriculum
• Daily Challenges
• Sports Clubs
• Triple Play Games
• Social Recreation
